The young musicians taking part in On the Edge have been identified by the
local authority promoters together with the Hertfordshire Music Animateur and
Hertfordshire Youth Service. The participants will work with Tunde Jegede and
Sharp Edge in one of four satellite projects. The starting point for these will be
music devised beforehand by Tunde and the Sharp Edge musicians.
St Albans On the Edge Satellite Project Workshops will commence on 3rd
March, leading up to a public performance at 7.30pm on Saturday 13th March at the

March, leading up to a public performance at 7.30pm on Saturday 27th March at The

North Herts / East Herts On the Edge Satellite Project Workshops will
commence on 19th April, leading up to a public performance at 7.30pm on Saturday

This will be followed by a two-day residency in which the four groups will fuse
their works into a single piece, with guidance from Tunde, Sharp Edge and Club
21st Century musicians.
On the Edge Residency Workshops on 29th and 30th May, culminating in a
performance on Sunday 30th May culminating in a
performance at 7.30pm on Sunday 30th May at Stevenage Music Centre, Valley

During the summer, Tunde will write an orchestral score inspired by the earlier
project work, incorporating material created by the project groups and musical
ideas contributed by other young people through this Web Site. The finished
composition will be played at a concert by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
On the Edge Performance. The world premiere of the final piece will be
played at 7.30pm on Friday 8th October at Dacorum Pavilion, Marlowes, Hemel
Hempstead. The concert will also include works by Beethoven (Coriolan Overture;
Triple Concerto; Symphony No. 6, The Pastoral) conducted by Daniele Gatti.
